About Flood of Dollars
Flood of Dollars is an independent buying-guide site for fireproof and waterproof home safes. We help you compare models and pick one with less guesswork.
We write for homeowners and families who want a safe spot for papers, passports, jewelry and keepsakes. You don't need to know safe jargon, because we explain terms like UL classified, ETL verified and cubic feet in plain words.
What we cover
Our guides cover fireproof document safes, small fire-rated boxes, shelf safes, keypad and dial safes, and larger home safes with shelves. We also compare brands like SentrySafe, Honeywell, First Alert and Amazon Basics.
Many guides compare two models or two lock types side by side, so you can see the trade-offs before you buy.
What we do
We read the product details, specs and maker information for every safe we cover. We also look at what buyers often say after using one.
Then we turn it all into plain guides and clear picks, written in everyday words. You can read more on our How we research page.
What we don't do
We don't make, build or sell safes, and no maker pays us to rank its products.
Despite the name, we don't give money, insurance or legal advice. We write about home safes and nothing else.
Flood of Dollars is an independent site. We aren't affiliated with SentrySafe, Honeywell, First Alert, Amazon Basics or any other maker.
We don't claim to have tested every safe ourselves. A fire or water rating is the maker's claim about a lab test, and we label it that way.
How we earn money
Some links on this site go to stores like Amazon. If you buy through them, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
That never changes which products we pick. Our affiliate disclosure has the details.
